The Security Grading System

The introduction of BS EN 50131, PD662 and DD243 has changed the way that systems are designed and installed with a grading system now in place to determine the level of security that is provided.

All components making up the system are also designed and manufactured to these grades. Insurance company specifiers also frequently stipulate which grade is required as a condition of insurance. The grades are as follows:

  • Grade 1 – low risk installations
  • Grade 2 – low to medium risk installations
  • Grade 3 – medium to high risk installations
  • Grade 4 – high risk installations
